Stop accepting responses by closing your form
Updated today
Close your form to stop new submissions. Youform has no separate unpublish action: Close Form under Settings β Access controls whether the public link accepts responses, while Publish controls which version of the content is live. Closing keeps the form and all existing submissions intact.
Close a form from Settings
The Close Form toggle takes effect immediately and has no confirmation step, so only switch it when you are ready to stop responses.
Open the form and select Settings in the builder navigation.
Select Access in the settings sidebar to open the Access & Scheduling page.
Turn on the Close Form toggle.
From that moment the public link no longer accepts new submissions. Respondents who open it see Sorry! This form is now closed. instead of the form, and every submission you already received stays available on the Submissions page.
Close a form from the dashboard
The dashboard closes the same form through its form menu, with a confirmation step.
Open the form card's three-dot menu and select Close this form.
Confirm with Yes! Close it. The form immediately stops receiving submissions, and you can select View closed page to check what respondents see.
Close a form automatically
On the Access & Scheduling page you can schedule the close instead of flipping the toggle yourself. Both options close the form the same way, without notifying you.
Close by date
Turn on Close Form By Date and pick a date and time. Youform checks every minute and closes the form at or after that moment. Enter the date and time in your own timezone; it is stored as UTC. There is no minimum or maximum date. An invalid value shows Invalid date format!.
Close by submission count
Turn on Close Form By Submissions and enter a number, for example 100. The form closes automatically once it reaches that count. The limit must be at least 1 and greater than the form's current submission count; the page shows the exact message when it is not. A valid value gets a confirmation on the page that the form will close once that number of submissions is reached.
This threshold is per form. It does not change how many responses your account can hold; see How many responses can a form hold? for capacity.
Reopen a closed form
Turn the availability back on from any of three places: turn off Close Form on the Access & Scheduling page, select Open this form from the dashboard form menu, or select the Closed status control at the top of the builder. The form starts accepting submissions again immediately.
If your form closed because its Close Form By Date passed, reopen it through the Access & Scheduling toggle: that path also clears the expired date. Reopening from the dashboard or the builder's Closed control leaves the expired date in place, so the scheduled close can close the form again. Turn off Close Form By Date on that page if you want the form to stay open.
Closing is not reverting
Closing and publishing control different things, so closing a form never undoes an edit and reverting never stops responses.
Close Form decides whether the public link accepts new submissions.
Publish makes your draft changes live. Revert to last published state discards unpublished changes, except design changes, so the live form returns to the last published version. See What is the cloud icon in Youform builder? for how saved, published, and reverted states work.
Closed forms also appear in your organization's activity log, which records forms being opened, closed, and published; see How to check activity logs in my organization?
