The link is not recognized as a Google Forms URL. Check that you copied the full respondent link (ending in /viewform, or a forms.gle short link) and not an /edit link, then paste it again.
Import Google Forms to Youform
Updated today
You can convert a Google Form to a Youform with the Google Forms to Youform converter. Paste the form's public respondent link, review the preview, and save it to your workspace. The form structure transfers, but responses, branching, and quiz scoring do not.
Before you start
The converter reads your form through its public link, so the Google Form must be accessible without signing in. Open the link in a private browser window to check. If the form requires sign-in or is restricted to your organization, the converter cannot read it.
Convert your Google Form
In Google Forms, copy the published respondent link. It usually ends in
/viewform, or it is aforms.gleshort link. Do not use the link that ends in/edit: that link opens the editor and the converter cannot use it.Open the Google Forms to Youform converter.
Paste the link into the Google Forms URL field and click Convert to Youform.
Wait for the Your Youform is ready preview. Large forms can take a moment; keep the tab open.
Review the preview, then click Use this Youform. You need to sign in or create an account to save and edit the form. If you were signed in already, the form is created in your current workspace.
You can also start from your Youform dashboard: in the new-form modal choose Import Google Forms, or pick Google Forms under "Import from" in the templates modal.
What transfers and what does not
The converter imports the form structure. Your existing responses and connections stay in Google.

Images can be dropped when their download fails, so check each image question in the preview. Page breaks are flattened into a single flowing form rather than kept as separate pages.
How your question types are converted
Google Forms type | Youform block |
|---|---|
Short answer | Text input (email, phone, website, or number when the question title makes the type clear) |
Paragraph | Long text |
Multiple choice | Radio choice |
Dropdown | Dropdown |
Checkboxes | Checkbox |
Linear scale | Opinion scale |
Multiple-choice or checkbox grid | Matrix |
Date | Date |
Rating | Star rating |
Time | Text input |
File upload | File upload |
A question type the converter does not recognize falls back to a text input, or is skipped if it cannot be parsed at all.
Check the new form before you share it
The preview shows the converted form exactly as respondents will see it, so this is where you catch gaps. Walk through it and confirm every question arrived with the right type and options, and that images and the welcome text look right.
Then rebuild what the converter cannot bring over: add branching with Adding Logic to forms, rebuild scoring with How can I create a Quiz with Youform?, and connect a spreadsheet for new responses with Google Sheets.
Conversion errors
"Hmm... this is not a valid Google Form URL."
"This Google Form requires sign-in to access."
The converter can only read a public form. Open your Google Form's settings, turn off collecting email addresses, and remove the requirement for respondents to sign in. Then check that the link opens in a private browser window without signing in, and convert again.
"Failed to convert your Google Form. Please try again."
Try the conversion again. If it keeps failing, email your Google Form URL to [email protected] and we will take a look.
